**Please note: Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be anywhere from 20%-40% darker and bolder in color and 15% thicker. The complete healing process takes about 5-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating.

*Gently blot brows with tissue every 5 minutes for an hour after procedure to remove excess plasma.
*After an hour, apply the ointment provided.
*Apply half a rice grain amount of ointment per brow for 7-10 days following procedure with freshly washed hands, provided applicators or a Q tip, morning and night (2x/day).
*Cleanse brow area with a gentle fragrance-free cleanser and your hands morning and night (2x/day). Do not use a washcloth or sponge. Clean the area by moving in the direction of the hair growth.
*Allow eyebrows to completely air dry before applying aftercare ointment.
*DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area (Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss).
*Avoid pools (chlorine is irritating), sauna, steam rooms, hot showers, & hot baths for 2 weeks.
*Avoid exercise or other efforts that may cause excessive sweating for at least 4 days. 14 days preferred.
*Sweating on or through the brows can cause pigment expulsion through the dermis, resulting in poor retention.
*Avoid direct sun and tanning beds for 4 weeks. This is new skin and will sunburn easily. Premature direct sun can cause scarring.
*After 14 days, once the area has healed, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading. (At least SPF 30, if not 50)
*Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
*Keep your hair off your brow area for 10 days.
*NO eyebrow tinting, makeup, or skincare products can be used on the treated area for 2 weeks.
*NO Botox around the brow area for 2 weeks.
*Avoid Retin-A, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials, laser treatments, and anything treating hyperpigmentation close to the brow area in order to prevent pigment fading.

**Please be patient. Cosmetic tattooing is a multiple appointment process with a healing time of approximately 4-6 weeks in between touch up appointments.**

Tattoo Aftercare

*I use a product called Derm Shield, a medical grade second skin that essentially replaces traditional aftercare. It is applied after the tattoo is finished and typically stays on for up to six (6) days; however, I will give more specific instructions regarding how long to leave it on. Derm Shield allows the tattoo to breathe fully while protecting it and keeping the perfect moisture balance. In most cases the tattoo is healed once the Derm Shield comes off, but there may be another day or two of peeling skin. There will be another week or so of the skin appearing dry, or even flaking.
*Use quality white lotion such as Lubriderm during this time, just to keep it moisturized. It can be upwards of a month before the skin is fully recovered.
*Gently wash the tattoo in the shower after the Derm Shield comes off. Pat dry & apply Lubriderm.
*Depending on the size of the tattoo, the Derm Shield may need to be changed within 24 hours. Sometimes tattoos will weep for a period afterwards, and the Derm Shield may trap fluid underneath. If it is excessive (you can see pockets of fluid), it needs to be changed. A little bit is normal, and is generally fine to leave on.
*Derm Shield is waterproof, but do not submerge it underwater. Showering is fine, but be brief.
*It is important not to sweat while wearing it, as it will trap sweat underneath.
*Avoid exercise and/or strenuous activity for the duration.
*The Derm Shield is protective, but it is important to remember that the tattoo is still very delicate while healing. Be careful with and be conscious of the tattooed area.
*If the edges start to peel back, secure it with some medical tape, being careful not to cover the tattoo itself. Remember, the tattoo needs to breathe, and only Derm Shield is breathable.
*When removing the Derm Shield , start at a corner and go slow, peeling it back against itself. Slowly coax any areas that don’t let go easily. It may almost look like the tattoo is coming off in places, but this is just the dead skin layer that will be removed with the Derm Shield .
